The Sig Sauer P226 Extreme is a large frame, semi-automatic handgun that is designed for personal protection, self-defense, and recreational shooting purposes. It has the 4-point safety system that features a decocking lever, automatic firing pin safety block, safety intercept notch, along with a trigger bar disconnector. The frame has an integrated accessory rail for mounting a tactical light or laser. The slide has front cocking serrations, and trigger has short reset trigger for 60-percent less pull to allow for more accurate shooting.
The overall length of the P226 Extreme is 7.7-inches, with a height of 5.5-inches, and a barrel length of 4.4-inches. The frame material is made from aluminum alloy, and has a black hard coat anodized finish. The slide material is made from stainless steel, and has a black Nitron finish. The grips are Hogue G-10 extreme with front strap serrations. It can hold either 15-rounds of 9mm or 12-rounds of .40 S&W ammunition. The sight system is the 3 white dot SIGLITE night sights, and has an option for users to buy the adjustable contrast sights. The trigger pull is approximately 4.4-pounds (single) and 10-pounds (double).
