Ruger 77 17 Rotary Magazine chambered in only .17 HMR is a nice varmint rifle for the farm or just for making those long distance plinks. The rotary magazine is a funny little rarely used magazine design that was first used in 1899. The magazine is similar to a top loading revolver as the rounds are loaded in the top of the detachable magazine and they are then stored around a circular sprocket with a spring that provides tension that is later released in increments in order to reload the gun.
The bolt action on this rifle is made of either alloy steel or stainless steel. It comes in American Walnut with a blued metal finish (alloy steel) 22" barrel, 41.25" length and weighs 6.5 lbs MSRP $829, and Black Laminate Target Grey® (stainless steel) 24" barrel, and 43.5 overall length 7.5lbs MSRP $929
Both version of this gun have a 6 groove, 1:9" right hand twist. As a misc this gun also has sling studs built in.
