The Sig Sauer 1911 STX is a large frame handgun that is designed for self-defense, along with conceal and carry purposes. It stems from the Granite Series Rail and Revolution Series model handguns that were changed to Sig's Model 1911 version of John Brownings Classic handgun. The frame and slide have been dehorned to help ensure it does not snag on material or clothing when it is being pulled out for use. It has a match grade barrel, hammer, and trigger. It has a beavertail grip safety with a speed bump, extended ambidextrous thumb safety, firing pin safety, and hammer intercept notch.
The overall length of the 1911 STX is 8.7-inches, with a height of 5.5-inches., and a barrel length of 5-inches. The slide material is made from stainless steel, and features a black nitron finish with polished cocking serrations. The frame material is made from stainless steel, and features a natural stainless finish. The sights are adjustable combat night sights. The grips are custom wood, and feature 25-line per inch front strap serrations. It holds 8-rounds of .45 ACP ammunition in the magazine. The trigger pull is approximately 5-pounds for the single action.
