The Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 is designed as a .22 LR semi-automatic rifle. It was introduced onto the market in 2009 as a semi-automatic rifle using the blowback system of firing. It holds 10-rounds of .22 LR caliber ammunition, and is used for recreational shooting, and small game hunting. The overall length is 33.75-inches, 30.5-inches collapsed, with a 16.5-inch barrel. It has a quad raid hand guard for a stable grip while shooting, and also allows for accessories to be mounted.
The M&P15-22 has a carbon steel barrel, polymer upper/lower material on the frame, including the magazine, and a black matte finish. It has a functional charging handle, a magazine release system similar to the AR-15, and a 6-position CAR stock butt to adjust to shooters body and firing stance. It has an adjustable A2 front sight, and an adjustable rear dual aperture.
