The Sig Sauer P938 Rosewood is based off the P238 .380 design, and is intended to be a low profile, conceal and carry, along with personal protection handgun. It is a small frame, sub-compact, semi-automatic pistol with a beavertail frame. The overall length is 5.9-inches, with a height of 3.9-inches, and a barrel length of 3-inches. It has a similar design to the 1911 model pistol, with a recoil operated system, and locks the slide in the open position after all rounds have been spent.

The Sig Sauer P938 frame is made of alloy, with a black hard coat anodized finish. The slide is made of stainless steel, with a Nitron finish. The magazine holds 6-rounds of 9mm ammunition, and has the option for an upgraded 7-round extended clip that users can obtain separately. The trigger is single action only (SAO), with a pull of approximately 7.5-pounds. The sights are the 3 white dot SigLite night sights. The grips are custom Rosewood, with front strap checkering. The safety system is ambidextrous to allow for easy access with right or left handed shooters.
