The Sig Sauer 1911 Tactical Operations (TACOPS) is a large frame, semi-automatic handgun designed for self-defense, and tactical shooting purposes. The name stems from the original Granite Series Rail that was later renamed Revolution Models to the current name 1911 model. The Sig Sauer version takes John Brownings classic 1911 model, and incorporates modern features into it that include an enhanced beavertail grip safety, extended ambidextrous thumb safety, and a skeletonized hammer. It has an M1913 Picatinny Rail for mounting a tactical light, laser, or sight rail onto the frame.

The overall length of the 1911 TACOPS is 8.7-inches, with a height of 5.5-inches, and a barrel length of 5-inches. The frame material is made from stainless steel, and features a black nitron finish. The slide material is made from stainless steel, and features a black nitron finish. The grips are black polymer ergonomic XT grips with magwell, and feature 25-line per inch front strap checkering. The magazine holds 8-rounds of .45 ACP ammuntion, and extended magazines that hold 10-rounds are available also. The trigger is single action only, and has a pull of approximately 5-pounds on the trigger. The sights are the 3 green dot Tritium low profile night sights.
